Though, sometimes it is very useful. Here're some elite demons you can enslave to rule the mmorpg world:

1) The big elite tuff guy Lord Banehollow in Jaendar. He's got alot of hp, powerful melee attacks, good aoe. It's a pleasure to kill groups of non-elites with his help.

2) DM East demons. You can easily solo demons standing by pairs or even when there're three of them. To farm demonic runes/felcloth/random greens and some blue items or librams.
Enslave one of them, banish another, kill third with the enslaved tanking it. Use him as a living shield untill he's got a few hp left. Then release and finish him.

3) Imps in Zul'Gurrub - awesome turrets you can control. But beware - when you'll have to kill them, there're 2 voidwalkers your group will need to destroy. So better not use those imps on bosses in case you loose control.

4) Immolatus - a big fire-type elemental in Felwood. Level 56 elite demon. He kills furblogs, trees and elementals in a few hits and you keep control on him pretty long. The trick is to do just a little damage to the mob he is killing so you can loot/skin it.

Use this at your own risk :) General advice is: put on curse of shadows before enslaving. Also, if you install CountDoom plugin, you'll see how much time of the enslave is left (the maximum of it).

More enslaving tricks coming later.

Useful info: uber trinket for those who don't pvp often.

There's an UBER trinket available for warlocks who achieve "Friendly" with Warsong.

http://www.thottbot.com/?i=52389:

[Rune of Perfection]
Binds when picked up
Unique
Trinket
+7 Stamina
Classes: Priest, Shaman, Mage, Warlock, Druid
Requires Level 40
Equip: Decreases the magical resistances of your spell targets by 20.

Wear it with your favorite Eye of the Best / Royal Seal of Eldre'Thelas depending on your talents. For example, if you're a demonologist, you need more balanced stats (stamina, int, +dmg).
While if you've got dark pact, it's all about +shadow dmg +stamina on your eq, cause your pet has an infinite mana pool.
I'll cover the build topic later, but one thing you should remember. You don't need +int if you're a dark pacter! Go for stamina and damage to rock the world.
One more underestimated stat is armor. It's useful for PvP and vital for PvE. You know you're gonna have physical contact with rogues, hunters, warriors, palas-shmalas, and other melee dpsers. Why not care about armor? It really helps.

How to kill a warlock! Very funny strategy from the official forums.

HOW TO KILL A SOUL-LINKED WARLOCK

Stolen from the official forums:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Preparation
You can find an SL warlock outside IF or Orgrimmar, this is the place were most SL warlocks hang out.
To initiate combat, you should approach the warlock and talk to him. He will say something about how nerfed warlock were, and how they could not kill anyone in previous patches, and how they became godlike while mages are now water dispensers. After you talk to him, click DUEL to start the fight.

PHASE ONE

You should position yourself as shown in this image:

http://img133.imageshack.us/my.php?image=warlockmod8jo.jpg

The warlock will begin the fight without a pet, because he will feel too overpowered to use a pet against you. MT#1 and MT#2 should position the warlock so that his back will face the tank farther away from the IF door. It is advisable for them to have at least 350 shadow resistance, and one of them should also have 250 fire resist minimum. (This is explained later). Greater Shadow Protection pots are also a good commodity, as Whipper root tubers and +50 stamina potions from the quest in Blasted Lands.

The melee DPS group (shown as YELLOW in the pic) should stay behind the warlock, near the tank farther away from the Gate. This is done because they will need to retreat behind the tank and bandage, from time to time. (Bandage spot is shown on the pic)

The rest of the raid should position as shown in the picture. It is important for the raid to have about 120-200 shadow resistance, which will help sustain the damage. Keep in mind you will need at least 2 dispellers for each debuff type, otherwise you will wipe pretty soon.

During Phase 1, the warlock will perform a series of attacks:

Shadow Bolt: A bolt of shadow is launched every 4 seconds to the tank that has aggro, causing 1200 to 2500 shadow damage, depending on resistance. A shadow bolt will crit between 3500 and 6500 damage, again depending on the target resistance. This is were MT#2 should come into play: If a Shadowbolt crits MT#1, he will have a debuff that will increase Shadow damage by a Zillion times. This is when MT#2 should taunt the warlock to prevent MT#1 from dying. MT#1 will then do the same thing once another Shadowbolts crits MT#2.

Curse of Doom: Every 1 minute, the warlock will cast CoD on a random raid member. This member should move outside the raid and unload full DPS, since he will die within the minute.

Shadowburn: The warlock will cast Shadowburn everytime he changes target. If one of the raid members gets aggro, he will suffer shadowburn and instantly die. It is important not to OverDPS, or members will die one after another.

Fear: The warlock will cast Fear on a randomy raid member, every few seconds. You should provide everyone with Fear Ward if you have it, and dispel fear ASAP, especcially on MTs and Healers.

Phase 1 is relatively easy and will last until the warlock has 70% life. This can take between 3 and 5 minutes, depending on your equipment.

PHASE TWO

When the warlock reaches 70% life, he will instacast a felhunter and Soul Link it. This is when the fight becomes harder.
Note: You cannot kill the warlock while the felhunter is alive. If you try to, the warlock will say that It's not his time yet and will use an healthstone, which will probably render the fight impossible in phase three.

A few moments before Phase two, the raid should move as shown in the pic.

http://img336.imageshack.us/my.php?image=warlock2mod5yb.jpg

Note: MT#3 and MT#4, which are tanking the felhunter, should stay at least 10 yards away from the warlock

Phase two is all about killing the felhunter.
The felhunter CANNOT BE DAMAGED by magic, as it has very high magic resistance. Also, during phase two, you should not magic debuff the pet or the warlock, otherwise the felhunter will remove the debuff and heal himself.

MT#1 & #2 should stay on the warlock with a few healers, while the melee DPS group will take down the Felhunter, while the magic
DPS group focuses on the warlock. During this phase, the warlock will receive next to no damage, as he is Soul Linked to the pet.

During Phase two, the warlock will have a new attack at his disposal:

Hellfire: Every 20 seconds, the warlock will cast Hellfire and hit anyone within 10 yards for an incredible amount of Fire damage.

Every DPS class standing near the warlock should retreat as shown in the picture and bandage as soon as he casts hellfire. Only the MT with Fire resistance should remain near the warlock. This is done because if the warlock finds no one within melee range during Hellfire, he will summon an Infernal and wipe the raid.

When the Felhunter is dead, PHASE THREE begins.

PHASE THREE

Phase three will begin as soon as the Felhunter is dead.
Notes: The warlock should be at around 40% health now. If he's any higher than that, you'll prolly not be able to take him down before you wipe. Also, if you have more than 6-7 dead members by now, you will probably wipe as you can't do enough DPS.

During phase three, the warlock will use all his arsenal to kill you.

Curse of Shadow/Elements/Agony: Every 10 seconds, the warlock will cast a random Curse on the entire raid. These debuffs should be removed as soon as possible. If CoE or CoS are not removed after 10 seconds, the warlock will cast Immolate/Shadowbolt on the member, killing him.

Howl of Terror: The Warlock will randomy cast HoT, hitting all the melees around him. You need to be quick and dispel Fear on the MTs otherwise they will lose aggro.

Death Coil: The most imbalanced spell in the warlock's arsenal. This spell will be cast on a random raid member killing him, and will heal the warlock. CT_raidassist will warn you when the warlock is about to cast Deathcoil, and all Healers should hide behind the tank. If more than 3-4 healers are killed, the MTs will not be able to sustain damage and die, wiping the raid.

Note: In this pic ( http://img336.imageshack.us/my.php?image=warlock2mod5yb.jpg ) an arrows point to the out-of-LOS spot for Healers. This is where you should hide when the warlock is about to deathcoil

PHASE FOUR

When the warlock is at 5% life, he does an emote saying "Imba Warlock performs one last service for Blizzard" He will then cast Curse of Doom on the entire raid. This means you need to kill him within one minute, or you will wipe. You should have at least 15-20 DPS classes still alive here, otherwise you won't be able to kill him in time.

If you manage to kill him within the minute, congratulations! You just killed the hardest boss currently in World of Warcraft!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If anyone knows the author of this, please, tell me, I'll add a credit for this awesome post.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://warlock-blog.blogspot.com/2006/08/how-to-kill-warlock-very-funny.html' title='How to kill a warlock! Perhaps this will give new angles to the 'Does Lifetap cause threat?' debates I've been seeing as of late.

Life Tap: This spell now benefits from effects which increase your spell damage. At rank 3 and above, the base amount of health lost and mana gained will increase by 80% of your bonus spell damage effects. Talents and items can further modify those values. Rank 1 and 2 receive reduced effect.
---
Which means you'll be able to get 1000+ mana from one tap and loose 900 mana. This will make your tapping much faster, though, decreasing the efficiency of taps. Also, you, probably, won't be able to use life tap at less then 1000 hp.

My choice to get mana is still Dark Pact - in raids you need the imp anyway, and it's phased, and gives you an infinite mana pool. In long fights vs big bosses like Ragnaros, or even Nefarian, after 5 minutes or so mages already got their mana potions on cooldowns and are firing with their wands, while you easily regain mana and continue doing dmg, outdpsing them alot!

Smiley!

>:) - happy warlock in felheart horns/nemesis skullcap!

How to run away and do direct damage spells without slowing down

Ok, as I promised. This is one of my favorite warlock tricks. When you're soloing Baron Charr, or doing some pvp, or just running away, it is sometimes essential to shoot a shadow bolt (when Nightfall procs) / shadowburn / death coil and continue running without slowing down.

It's longer to explain then to show, but hold on. The idea is: you need to shoot in jump. It's done like this: you're holding the "forward" button, then press "jump" button, press the mouse right buttom and turn around, shoot (you should have all direct damage spells shortcuted!), turn back, release right mouse buttom, land on your feet and continue running without releasing the "forward" button.

Seems tricky, but when you get used to it you'll gain big advantage vs other classes and warlocks who don't know this trick :) Increasing the mouse sensitivity might help too. Also getting a good mouse will dramatically increase your success. I'm currently using Logitech MX300 if someone is interested >:)

More useful info to come, stay tuned!

How to solo Baron Charr

Baron Charr is an elite boss in Un'Goro crater. He drops a bunch of essences of fire, hearts of fire and elemental fires. Also drops a green +10 stamina +13 fire dmg held low item Elemental Ember and sometimes a blue cool-looking mace Baron Charr's Sceptre. And sometimes an Ace of Elementals. All items are boe, you can sell them on Auction House.

And yes, a warlock can solo Baron Charr, though he has four non-elite adds, but it's not essential to kill them. To solo him, you need to have at least one instant dot except CoA (Curse of Agony). Two is even better.

Basically, soloing him is all about kiting, dotting and throwing instant dmg spells at him. He moves a little bit slower then you. But, his adds move a bit faster then him - either they're faster themselves, or due to his casting. Anyway, you need to keep your distance and the maximum of your dots reach (dot = damage over time. corruption, curse of agony, siphon life.. Immolate ain't working here because he's immune to fire spells). You can see it on your toolbar - when you become too far, the icons are changing (the numbers are becoming red).

So, after you spot and target him, start with a shadowbolt, turn around and run, avoiding the elementals. Put all instant dots you have, starting with a curse of doom. While running, fire your instant direct damage spells at him - death coil, shadowburn, shadowbolt if the nightfall procs, and always keep the dots renewed, because if the dots are gone, the baron will stop chasing you after a few seconds and run back.

You don't need to turn your face to mob while casting instant dots. A warlock in green items kills Charr in 2-3 minutes, a blue-equipped warlock does it in 1.5 mins, an epic-geared warlock kills him in a minute. Pretty fast for items worth ~50-100g? :)

On my next post I'll tell you how to do direct dmg spells without loosing your speed. It's vital for this mob, because, if Charr or his adds are too close to you, the will slow you down with their aoe and kill.

About this blog

This is my first post to this blog. I have been playing World Of Warcraft pretty long now, and playing a warlock really thrills me. My soul is stored dark withing warlock robes :) In this blog I'll share my views and ideas of how to play a warlock most effective way. I will cover both PvP and PvE aspects here, and also I'll share warlockian tips and tricks.

As warlock is a very flexible class, I'll post detailed instructions for different builds and styles of playing, feel free to add your opinion to comments, as it is the discussion where the truth is born.

And sorry for my English, I am not a native speaker and learned English in school/listening to the songs/watching movies/playing wow. I just hope you can understand what i am writing :)
